Day Seventeen 01/17/17 "Thirty Paintings in 30 Days"

Today my color for my Color Chart Project is Gamblin's Phthalo Green.  It is a transparent, cool, bright color with a high intensity.  It is considered a very good alternative to Viridian because it is intense and mixes well.  Because it has a high tinting strength, you need to use a very small amount so it will not overpower other colors.

It is completely lightfast and permanent.  It is a Series 2, so not that expensive.  It has a value of 2 (using the value scale where 10 is white), and a chroma of 6.  The pigment is PG 7. It has a blue bias and makes beautiful emerald greens and blues like the Gulf of Mexico in the Florida Panhandle.

In doing Today's charts, I took the Phthalo Green and placed it by itself in the first top square.  I then tinted it by adding Titanium White for 4 additional values below this top square.
Next, in the second column, I mixed the Phthalo Green (PhG) with all my other individual colors in a ratio of 75% PhG and 25% of the next color, like Thalo Yellow Green (ThYG).  I then added white to this mixture for 4 additional values.  I did this with all my 21 colors.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Hope this was helpful and interesting to you!
